Renovated riad with green zellige in Marrakech

A green zellige patio, carved plaster and sand-toned bedrooms.

Real estate · Riad, Marrakech · 7 photos

This renovated riad keeps the traditional architecture of the medina and dresses it in light, natural decor: green zellige laid in herringbone, chiselled plaster, wooden joinery, rattan pendants and woven baskets.

Everything is arranged around the patio, open over two floors. The set follows a viewing: the patio and its lounge, the upstairs gallery, then the bedrooms and the bathroom.

The patio

The patio is photographed with a wide angle from its corners, to show the zellige floor, the Moroccan lounge under the carved arches, the wall fountain and the upstairs gallery all at once. Daylight falling from above is balanced with the wall lights on, to keep clean whites and a true green.

The upstairs gallery

Upstairs, the wrought-iron railing and the large rattan pendants hanging down into the patio make an image on their own. The framing keeps the depth of the gallery all the way to the carved wooden doors.

Bedrooms and bathroom

Each bedroom is framed to show the bed, the chiselled plaster panel, the storage and the cement tile floor. The tadelakt bathroom, with its painted basin and fibre mirror, completes the set: these are the images travellers look at first on Airbnb or Booking.
